After Helene, this families yard regularly floods after a hard rain. The creek near their yard used to be a couple feet deep, but now it’s just a few inches because of the sediment from upstream. When it rains, the shallow river overflows its bank.
Also, the creek bank was substantially eroded; they lost several feet of bank (near the corner of their garden) in the storm. Helene also created an island of rocks (in front of the swing set) that needs to be pulled back to the bank.
An excavator is needed to dig out the creek, so it is returned to its original bed and depth.
