THE NEED

Formerly a drywall installer, Carl sustained a shoulder injury that forced an early retirement. He has been unable to work for 12-years.
Eventually inheriting a 1940's home from his father, the home had wiring issues, roof leaks and structural damage. Not to mention, no heat.

In the winter, Carl utilized several space heaters to heat his uninsulated home, setting alarms at night so he could move the heaters around to avoid overheating his wiring.

On the back of his home, an old deck and ramp had rotted and collapsed, tearing off part of the siding, and exposing floor joists to the elements.

To say the least, Carl was dealing with a number of safety issues that threatened his well-being.
THE SOLUTION

Through local contractors and volunteer labor, Hammer & Heart was able to build an accessibility ramp, repair damaged siding, replace a damaged door, rebuild rotted rim joists and install new wiring in his home.

Carl also has a plan in place to address other issues as they arise.

A note from Carl: "I want to thank Hammer & Heart from the bottom of my heart for the work that was done on my home. The [contractors] and volunteers came in and worked day after day to make some badly needed repairs. Everyone who came to my home was kind and caring. They all did great work and now my home is safe again. I could not be happier with the improvements... this was truly an answer to my prayers. I will forever be grateful for the work you did on my home."

Your gifts made Carl's home safe and comfortable. He has a renewed pride in his home. Thank you for making him a priority!
